This page explains what Play Story Chess collects, why, and who helps us run the service. Play Story Chess is operated by Red Rabbit Management LLC. Questions and requests go to hello@playstorychess.com.
What we collect
- Account details. If you sign in, your Mainline account provides your account identifier and email address. Sign-in is handled by Clerk.
- Guest identity. If you play without an account, your browser keeps a guest identifier so your save can continue.
- Game saves. Your moves, games, chosen level, and story progress, so you can resume where you left off.
- Purchases. What you bought, when, and its status (for example, active, renewed, or refunded). Our current website checkout uses Stripe, with secure payment fields on Play Story Chess or a hosted checkout. RevenueCat verifies purchase access. If you use a checkout that identifies Paddle as the seller, Paddle handles the payment as merchant of record, with RevenueCat verifying access. In-app payments are handled by Apple or Google with RevenueCat verifying access. We do not receive your full card number.
- Usage and device information. Pages visited, story events, and basic device and browser details, used to understand and improve the game.
How we use it
We use this information to run the game and your saves, to give you the stories you bought on every device you sign in to, to answer support requests, to keep the service secure, and to improve the stories. If you came from one of our ads, we may measure whether the ad led to a visit or a start.
Who helps us
We share information only with the services that run Play Story Chess for us: Clerk (accounts), RevenueCat, Stripe, Apple and Google (checkout and payments), Vercel (hosting), Neon (database), PostHog (product analytics), and Meta (website ad measurement). Meta ad measurement is disabled in our iOS and Android apps. We do not sell your personal information.
For a purchase made through Paddle, Paddle also processes the checkout and payment information needed to complete and support that transaction. Its privacy policy explains its handling of that information. This applies when Paddle is identified at checkout; it does not describe every website purchase.
Your choices
You can play The Glass Syndicate as a guest without an account. To delete your Play Story Chess account, open Profile → Delete Story Chess account, or visit Delete your Story Chess account and sign in.
Deletion permanently removes your Story Chess saved games, story progress, earned boards and level settings. Your Mainline account, login and Mainline data are preserved. We queue deletion of linked Story Chess analytics with PostHog. We retain a minimal deletion record to prevent old sessions from recreating deleted saves. Previously claimed guest tokens remain disabled without retaining their account link.
Deleting your account does not cancel subscriptions or automatically issue refunds. Cancel subscriptions through the store where you bought them before deleting. We retain payment and subscription records needed to service ongoing billing, resolve refunds and disputes, and meet applicable financial recordkeeping obligations. Provider-managed deletion and backup expiry can take additional time after removal from the active game database.
