Space chess stories
A science-fiction chess campaign can pair a familiar board with an unfamiliar world. The setting can change the people you meet and the questions the story asks, while the chess remains something you play.

The Last Orbit is the space adventure announced in the Play Story Chess selector. It is marked coming soon, not currently playable.

The public card shows a space setting. It does not establish ship-control mechanics, alien factions, planetary exploration, or a particular plot. Those details should come from the adventure's actual release.
“Space chess” can mean different things
A chessboard with science-fiction artwork, a variant with unusual rules, and a narrative campaign set in space are different experiences.
If you want a story, look for connected encounters, characters, and scenes. If you want a strategy variant, inspect what changes about the rules. If you want a conventional game with a particular visual style, the board presentation may be the main feature that matters.
The name of a genre cannot answer those questions on its own.
What to look for in a science-fiction campaign
Start with the premise. Does the player have a clear role? Does the first encounter explain why these characters are meeting? Does the story give you a reason to care about the next destination?
Then inspect the gameplay. You should be able to tell whether you are playing complete games, solving positions, or using chess-inspired mechanics.
A dramatic backdrop can invite you into a world. It does not replace that practical explanation.
Try the cinematic chess format in an available story
Play Story Chess's free adventure, The Glass Syndicate, uses an undercover spy setting. You make moves against the computer and follow scenes that connect the encounters.
It is a way to experience the platform's approach while The Last Orbit is upcoming. It is not a space adventure, so choose it only if the format and spy premise appeal to you.

Keep access and release status in the decision
An announced title, an available opening, and a complete released campaign can be different things. Look at the current story selector and the adventure's page for what is actually available.
